Jurassic World: Dominion becomes last of several films to push back its release date thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic
The highly anticipated sequel to 2015 Jurassic World and 2018 Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has been pushed back a full year from summer 2021 to June 10, 2022, according to Variety
Director Colin Trevorrow also confirmed the news of the delay, while also sharing the film’s first teaser poster on Twitter
« Over the past three months, I have worked with an amazing cast and crew on a film that we can’t wait to share with the world, » the director began
‘Although we’ll have to wait a little longer, it will be worth it Let’s stay healthy and take care of each other until then,’ ‘he concluded
His tweet included the first teaser poster, which featured the iconic Jurassic Park logo in amber, along with the full cast list
Filming began in February in Vancouver before moving to the UK in March, although production quickly ceased in mid-March, when COVID-19 began to spread
The sequel was one of the first big movies to jumpstart production with new COVID-19 security protocols in place
Insiders say these safety precautions added around $ 5 million to the production budget, sources claiming they are three weeks from the date of finalization
Among these security protocols are frequent testing for COVID-19, as well as temperature checks while the entire cast and team are isolated in the same compound
Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard return as Owen and Claire from Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Dominion, with several new and familiar faces
The original Jurassic Park stars Sam Neill and Laura Dern will be back alongside Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm
Jurassic World: Dominion is just the latest in a series of major Hollywood releases that have been pushed back to 2021 and 2022 in recent months
MGM has pushed the highly anticipated James Bond film No Time To Die, with Warner Bros. also pushing three of its biggest films
The studio has been pushing The Matrix 3 for the past few weeks, but in the last few days they’ve also been pushing The Batman and Dune
