Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta reportedly wanted another midfielder to join the Gunners after a deal was made for Thomas Partey. Houssem Aouar became Arsenal’s main target in the final weeks of the summer transfer window.

And the Ghana international has impressed since moving to London despite being injured at the moment.
Arteta was eager to strengthen his midfield chances when Jorginho came out as a surprise target.
And the athletic claim that Jorginho was not an alternative option for either Partey or Aouar.
However, a deal could not be struck as Chelsea reportedly refused to consider an installment-based deal.
Arteta has now made a decision for today’s game against Leeds, in which Partey is injured.
« He tried to keep going and wanted to play the second half. We knew it was a major injury.
« He’s done really well, he’s working very hard and he wants to be available.
« Hopefully we can get it back soon, but it’s an area where we need to be careful and a little bit protective of the player.
While Partey is unavailable, Joe Willock was named on the grid.
« I mentioned with Joe that I am really impressed with the way he handled the situation of not having much playing time in the Premier League, » added Arteta.
« I haven’t seen him train the way he did in the last five or six weeks under difficult circumstances.
« I think that’s reflected in the way he plays in the Europa League when he has the minutes, or in this case the Carabao Cup.
