The 2014 version of a solo track by Freddie Mercury will appear on the band’s upcoming album Live Around the World
Queen Adam Lambert’s upcoming concert album Live Around The World is out on October 2, but you can now watch a preview of “I Was Born To Love You” from an August 2014 concert at the festival Summer Sonic in Osaka, Japan
The song originally appeared on Freddie Mercury’s solo LP, M Bad Guy, but Queen made it her own 10 years later on Made In Heaven « I had an obsession with the song and I had the idea to make a new version of it, simulating how it would have sounded if we got to play it live with Freddie on stage, « Queen guitarist Brian May said in a statement. « The Queen version was therefore conceived as a ‘virtual’ live track, using Freddie’s spectacular voice as a common thread »
“Roger [Taylor], John [Deacon] and I performed our roles live,” he continued, “on a rearranged model I had assembled – with a few additions to the arrangement, in taking some liberties with the vocals, and even borrowing ad-libs from Freddie, to add to the feeling that it was a live band recording We didn’t know years later we would have the opportunity with Adam to give finally live this arrangement on a real stage «
The 1995 Queen version didn’t make a big impression in America, but Japanese audiences adopted it after it appeared in a beer commercial and as the theme of a hit TV show It inspired the Queen Adam Lambert trying it out on August 14, 2014 during a show in Seoul, South Korea, before performing it two days later at the Summer Sonic festival in Osaka, Japan This is the version included on Live Around The World
