The regular series only ended last week, but the BBC dance competition is usually again on Christmas Day.
But this year it looks a little different and the regular Strictly Special has been replaced with something new.
Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the traditional Strictly Christmas special had to be replaced, in which previous participants return to play a festive number.
This year’s series was filmed under strict conditions, with regular testing of participants and their pro partners, who formed an exclusive bubble with each other for the duration of the show.
It was probably not possible to bring previous couples together in the same way for a one-off special.
Strictly speaking, the Christmas countdown instead took viewers through 16 years of the hit show and will reveal some of the most iconic performances of all time.
The strict hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman guided us through the episode with the help of the judges, the professional dancers and the strict alumni.
There was a brand new group dance by the Strictly pros, « to give our screens the much-needed shine, » teased the BBC.
