Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has admitted he is concerned about his side’s La Liga form after losing 2-1 at home to Alaves.
Goals from Lucas Perez and Joselu gave Pablo Machins visitors all three points in their Los Blancos third division loss this season.
The defending Spanish champions have not won their last three league games. As a result, Zidane’s underperforming team slipped to fourth place in the table.
Zidane faces a frantic string of games through 2020 and the French boss knows his players need to improve.
« I have no explanation for our form. And for tonight we switch between good and bad moments, ”he said in an interview with Marca after the game.
“We played a good game against Milan and not today. I have no explanation for it.
« We have to keep working hard, allowing our players to relax and change our consistency. ”
Real Madrid have increased their chance of a place in the Champions League of the last 16 with two wins against Antonio Contes Inter Milan but they need a positive midweek result at Shakhtar Donetsk to keep their progress on track.
The Zidane players will then face a quick turnaround from their trip to Ukraine on Jan.. December, with a trip to rival Seville domestically this coming weekend.
