CJ McCollum releases limited number of bottles of ‘McCollum Heritage 91’ wine originally appeared on NBC Sports Northwest
The Trail Blazers shooting guard teamed up with Adelsheim Vineyard in Newberg, OR to partner with the vineyard in producing his inaugural wine, which was harvested in late Sept. of 2018 and then was bottled on Aug. 8, 2019.
CJ shared in his excitement of introducing his signature wine on his Instagram in late June.
“My fiancée actually introduced me to wine in college and that was the start of the snowball effect of me continuing to want to learn more about it,” McCollum told NBCSNW in June.
The wine’s name not only includes his last name, but the name of the street he grew up on in Canton, Ohio, and the birth year of himself and his fiancée, Elise Esposito.
After the Trail Blazers drafted McCollum in 2013 as the 10th overall pick, he eventually fell in love with the prominent Oregon pinot noir.
Even though Tuesday marks the first official release of McCollum’s signature wine, plenty of NBA players and coaching staff members of various teams have already sampled the pinot.
McCollum reportedly brought more than 80 bottles with him to the Orlando bubble during the NBA restart.
There was even talk of the 28-year-old converting his Disney hotel room into a chilled wine cellar, keeping his room temperature set around 60 degrees.
Soon enough wine connoisseur and enthusiasts will recognize McCollum’s smooth wine as much as NBA fans have come to love and respect his smooth mid-range.
