Police and other first responders descended Saturday afternoon on the Lehigh Valley Mall as customers and staff rushed to safety, according to a report from the scene.
Allentown police are part of the response to a shooting at the mall, a department official said.
Jason Malik was shopping with Michelle Delong, of Lehighton, at Country Memory and they were just about to leave were when they heard three shots, he said.
“It was crazy, it was like a stampede,” Malik said. They were locked down for about 45 minutes in the store. They were led out about 5:45 p.m., he said.
Malik’s brother Bob was still locked down in Forever 21 at that point but was led out just before 6 p.m., Jason Malik said.
Police and Lehigh County emergency management and dispatch personnel couldn’t immediately be reached for more information.

Police were securing store after store. There are nearly 130 stores in the mall, according to its website.

A Lehigh County dispatch at 5:35 p.m. spoke of a shooter being in the second level store at that moment.
