Just three days after they played to a 1-1 draw, the Portland Timbers and San Jose Earthquakes will clash once again on Saturday night in an MLS match at Earthquakes Stadium in San Jose. Kickoff is set for Saturday, September 19 at 7:30 p.m. PT/10:30 p.m. ET, with local television broadcasts on Fox 12 Plus (KPDX) in the Portland area and NBC Sports California in the Bay Area.
Since winning the MLS is Back tournament in Florida last month, the Timbers (4-4-3, 15 points) have posted just one win in six tries. Meanwhile, the Earthquakes (2-4-5, 11 points) are winless in their last six matches.
GOAL – 87th minute: Well, just when you thought it was all over, the Timbers strike again. This time it’s Polish forward Jarek Niezgoda who knocks in a sloppy effort after the assist from Diego Chara. Timbers up 6-1 on San Jose now in the closing minutes.

GOAL – 85th minute: It’s officially a rout. Julio Cascante nabs a goal to all but put this game out of reach as the Timbers go up 5-1 in the final minutes of regulation.

GOAL – 70th minute: Yimmi Chara gets in on the scoring action and puts a cleanup goal away on a rebound – his second in as many games – to give the Timbers what is now a very comfortable lead late in the game. 4-1 Portland up on San Jose now.
GOAL – 57th minute: Diego Valeri bags another goal, this time in the run of play as the Timbers go b ack up two goals on the Earthquakes by a 3-1 scoreline.
GOAL – 44th minute: Just before the half, the Timbers leaky defense allows San Jose to pull one back on a goal by Carlos Fierro. Earthquakes still in this one.
GOAL – 27th minute: Just two minutes after the game’s opening goal, Jorge Villafana puts in a terrific cross that finds Jeremy Ebobisse and he heads it home with ease to put the Timbers up 2-0 on the Earthquakes.
GOAL – 25th minute: After a takedown in the box, Diego Valeri steps to the penalty spot and rockets home a shot past the keeper for the penalty kick goal that puts the Timbers up 1-0 on San Jose.
