The starting lineups for the Stars and Lightning are introduced prior to puck drop of Game 1
Most players only see the Stanley Cup after they win it, but like most things in 2020, this was a bit different.
The Dallas Stars and Tampa Bay Lightning each got a sneak peek of the ultimate prize as they prepared to face off in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final on Saturday.
The Lightning and Stars, each of which have won the trophy once in team history, got a glimpse of the Cup during the pregame introductions. Either Tampa Bay and Dallas will get to see the trophy again before living every kid’s dream of hoisting the trophy over his head.
Philip Pritchard, aka the « Keeper of the Cup, » was at Rogers Place to reveal the Cup to the champions of the Eastern Conference and Western Conference. He also shared an up-close picture of the trophy, which is still a stunner at 127 years old.
