UPDATE (1:16 a.m) – Western Illinois University spokesperson Darcie Shinberger told our sister station WGEM-TV there’s no active shooter on campus, but police are looking for a suspect who shot a roommate late Tuesday night at Thompson Hall.
The severity of student’s injuries are not known. The student was transported to McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
Thompson Hall’s fire alarm was activated and students living there were evacuated to another location, Shinberger said.
MACOMB (HOI) – Western Illinois University officials confirmed late Tuesday night that a student has been injured and a shooter is on the loose.
The university issued a statement saying a shooter has been reported at Thompson Hall, which is a residence hall on the Macomb campus.
« At the time of this alert, do not assume this is the current location. The Office of Public Safety is responding. Follow all instructions from police and if stopped by police, ensure hands are in plain view, » the university’s statement said.
