Other than UConn’s Geno Auriemma, no basketball coach for women from the Big East is more revered than Doug Bruno.
Bruno, 70, has won over 700 games, six Big East regular season titles, and five tournament titles in more than three decades at DePaul. He also won two Olympic gold medals while standing on the sidelines with good friend Auriemma.
DePaul is 2-2 this season and No.. 24 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll – one of two schools in the conference ranked alongside No.. 3 huskies.
Bruno is on this week’s Hearst Connecticut Media UConn basketball podcast to discuss the Great Eastern landscape, exercise during a pandemic, his relationship with Auriemma, win Olympic gold with some legendary huskies, and more.
Doug Bonjour, the UConn women’s basketball beatwriter, also shares his thoughts on the team’s season opening win over UMass Lowell.
