The Champions League player has spoken candidly about his late-season shoulder injury, new autobiography, and his joy at having a fourth child in February, joking that he will have to trade his Mustang vs. a minivan

Thurston said he didn’t know much about his native culture until the 2010 Allstars game, when players were asked to stand on different sides of the room depending on what they knew on their family history

When Thurston realized he didn’t know much, he called his mother and told her he wanted to know more about the culture of his people

« I kind of made a mental note to myself that I wanted to do something to give back to my culture, because I know the history of our culture, where it came from and what it went through », he declared

« I wanted the generation to have something to aspire to and with my rugby union platform I was able to do it »

The NRL champion has traveled to promote his autobiography, which takes an honest look at his life on and off the pitch

Courier-Mail subscribers were delighted to meet Thurston in an intimate setting and get their books and shirts signed, with one of his smaller fans saying the player was his « idol »
